E. J. Jordan and Esoteric Audio Devices

E. J. Jordan Designs has achieved world-wide recognition over the past 25 years for it's wideband, metal cone loudspeaker drivers. Company founders, Ted and Denise Jordan, have now reached a stage in their lives where the continuity of the brand needs to be assured. Accordingly they have co-operated with current Swedish representative LUMINATOR / Anders Fransen to form a new company: ESOTERIC AUDIO DEVICES (EAD).

Ted Jordan will remain as Senior Technical Advisor and Denise Jordan will
continue to handle all enquiries from the UK for the time being.

All non-UK sales enquires for the JX92S will be passed to EAD who will also be re-introducing the JXR6 HD and the Jordan bass units.

Jordan JXR6 HD

EAD has produced test samples of the JXR6 HD from their new production facility. Once these have been tested and verified, we will be moving to full production once more. Keep an eye on this page or the EAD for the latest news.

JX92S

The JX92S fullrange driver continues to sell well throughout the world and has appeared in a range of commercial designs. In a suitable enclosure, it can operate from 35Hz to above 20kHz with no need for crossovers or supplementary tweeters.

JX125 and JX150 bass units

These have been out of production for some time but EAD plan to re-introduce them as soon as possible. They are among the most advanced bass drivers in the world and an excellent match for the JX92S and JXR6 HD.

J6T drive unit

The J6T is a low cost, OEM driver, developed by Mark Audio. E J Jordan Designs will not be selling this unit nor can we offer technical support.

New enclosure design

We have produced plans for a bass reflex (vented) version of the JX92S VTL design. This, along with the VTL plans, can be downloaded as a PDF from the JX92S Systems page.

New Commercial Systems

The A1 from Aurousal uses Jordan drive unit technology and has already received an excellent reviews in the June 2007 issue of Hi-Fi World and the March 2008 issue of Hi-Fi News, with particular praise for the imaging, coherence and dynamics. The A1 looks set to make a reputation for itself as a superb, stand-mounted system.

MJ Acoustics have developed two new speaker systems using Jordan drive units. One of these, the Subliminal S1R, is the best version yet of the VTL-style transmission line. Both this system and the more compact S1RM use an adapted JX92S driver to give results which rival more mainstream commercial speakers regardless of price or complexity.
